The most popular resorts on the Red Sea are (from north south): Taba, Nuweiba, Dahab, Sharm-El-Sheikh, Gamsha (due 2009), El-Gouna, Hurghada, Makadi Bay, Soma Bay, Safaga, Quseir and Marsa Alam.

The Red Sea offers dive sites and seascape which are unquestionably one of the best and most beautiful in the world, and is famous for its rich red sea life. Turtles roam the sea and manta rays hover over their cleaning stations, and devil rays cruise by and over the reef.
Away from the reef, there are schools of barracudas as well as grey reef sharks, hammerhead sharks, nurse sharks and leopard sharks which all patrol the sea. If its sharks you want to see, then the southern part of the red sea is where these are mostly found. Although they can be seen in the northern red sea mainly in the summer months.

Most of the diving in the red sea area is done with a shore-based, daily boat dives or a liveaboard dive boats.

The red sea is a rich and diverse Ecosystem. More than 1100 species of fish have been recorded in the red sea, and around 10% of these are found nowhere else. This includes around 75 species of deep-water fish. The diversity is in part due to the 2000 km of Coral reef extending along its coastline, these fringing reefs are 5000-7000 years old and are largely formed of Corals. The reefs form platforms and sometimes lagoons along the coast and occasional other features such as cylinders (as the blue hole at Dahab). These coastal reefs are visited by species of red sea fish, including some of the 44 species of shark. Although Sharks are more common in the southern Red Sea.
